TEAM HIGHLIGHT: I LOVE MY CITY
Our team has planned an amazing opportunity to serve the single mothers of LA. Next weekend, May 7th, we will be at Children’s Institute LA, taking part in serving with wardrobe styling, hair and makeup, childcare, cleaning and washing cars.
Below is an interview with Victoria Whittner, one of the leaders for I LOVE MY CITY, explaining the heart and message of why we do I LOVE MY CITY.
Q: What is "I Love My City?"
A: I Love My City is a ministry of ZOE that serves our city of Los Angeles. It's so unique and beautiful to have the opportunity to show people what love is - either for the first time or for the first time in a long time. I see I Love My City as a representation of Matthew 25:36 because we have this beautiful opportunity in this ministry to love and serve people that we would have never otherwise come in contact with.
Q: When do "I Love My City" days happen?
A: I Love My City is always the first Saturday of the month!
Q: What is our next outreach for May?
A: For the month of May we are working with Godiss Love to host a single Mother's Day Event at the Children's Institute LA. These women just work so hard taking care of everyone else, and the heart behind this "I Love My City" is to give them a day to be cared for by someone else. We will do their makeup and hair, be serving food, washing their cars, providing childcare, and having them go "shopping" through a boutique of donated clothes. We hope that through conversation and loving and serving they will feel cared for and valued. If you can't make it to I LOVE MY CITY, our team will be collecting gift card donations at the Connect Corner after service.
Q:How long have you been involved with I Love My City?
A: I have been going to I Love My City events since the Zoe church launched. I love that at ZOE we started serving outward from the very beginning of building our church.
Q:How does someone get involved in "I Love My City?"
A: Getting involved in I Love My City is so easy! All that they have to do is signup with us after church on Sunday, or signup at zoechurch.org/connect. If they're interested in a role of planning outreaches with the I Love My City team, they can contact email@example.com.
