WEEKENDS WITH ZOE: Easter Weekend & What's Next!
The 2016 Zoe Church Easter Weekend celebration began on Saturday morning at Poinsettia Park with our first Easter egg hunt. Zoe partnered with the City of Los Angeles to provide 15,000 candy filled eggs that covered the green lawn of the park. Food trucks, bounce houses, yard games, and music were included as hundreds of children gathered eggs and proud parents cheered them on. One lucky girl even found a trip to Disneyland that was hidden in an egg! Many Zoe volunteers who came out to help did an incredible job hosting the event. It was a great opportunity to build community and show love to our surrounding neighbors.
The celebration continued on Easter Sunday as a record setting four Zoe services took place at the El Rey Theater. The service included an amazing display of creativity in worship that featured a dance performance, spoken word, and hip-hop. Every service culminated in Pastor Chad delivering the good news with his message, “Open Heaven.” Pastor Chad said, “Jesus gave us access to something we could have never had on our own.” Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The resurrection was God’s response to sin and humanity needing a Savior. In this moment Christ rose from the dead, bringing eternal hope to all humanity!
The Easter Weekend was a perfect example of Zoe Church’s people who love and serve our city. We meet in all available spaces -- theaters, clubs, coffee shops, studios and parks -- often repurposing them to create an environment that welcomes all to join in the celebration of who Jesus is and His hope for the world. A huge thank you to everyone who made this weekend possible! It truly was an unbelievable weekend and a fantastic display of love to the city of Los Angeles.
